38-42 is normal depending on the condition of the baby. I was 39 with my first and 38 with my Twins. I would never want to go 40+! It dosen't matter if it is the 1st, 2nd or 5th...They come when they are ready.

I was over 41 weeks with my first, hit the due date with my second. Induced with all the kids, most likely this one as well. Pregnant now with my 3rd due less than 4 weeks.

I have heard mixed info on this- I heard that it is typical for first-timers to go full term but I delivered 5 weeks early and everyone that I know has gone early as well...

the chances of full-term are better than 50%, over half first-timers now get induced because they carry past their due date
