Maybe its not a last resort. If she is your friend, then friends turn to each other for help. Maybe she just needs help getting there. I wouldnt worry about it too much. Girls read too much into each other at times. She may just need a ride. Give her a ride, what could it hurt?

The calling back at the 11th hour, after you agreed to do it, is the awkward part of this. You should have spoken up with a "no" at the time. Expect to lose her friendship if you don't do what you said you were going to, because it will probably leave her in a very bad position.

A question for you: Which friend is your better friend, this girl you offered a ride, or the one you are riding with?

I feel as if people do that all the time to me too.
Tell her you can't give her a ride, she can find her own way. If she dosent have the courtesy to call you earlier and let you know her plans, then oh well, her loss.

Call her as your going out the door that way she wont really have time to jump in on your plans and she can't say you didn't call her back.

So you would rather your friend didnt have a ride cause its not very convenient for you. Sounds like neither one of you is a very good friend.
