As I see it, you could argue three nations:
1)Canada *my consistency pick
2)England *my past pick (EU in the future? *my future pick)
3)Iraq *my short term pick
Canada is our number 1 trading partner in the world (NAFTA). Also, Canada was voted #1 in world opinion polls. They are a very profitably ally. They are our neighbors and increase trade. They are a security buffer to us. They share similar cultural norms as America. They also have close heritage to England *hint hint!
2)England is the mother of America. She has become a very close ally of America. Her doctrine of law served as a basis for the American legal and political structure. Her friendship has been the American enlisted European stepping stone in the post WWII era. The US relationship with England and the EU are now a crucial test of time for America. The EU, if established as The United States of Europe, would become the most influencial on America. The provided articles may provide some furthur insight into this.
3)Iraq... mostly it is the obvious. America has put its world credibility and stature in a basket and sent it strolling into this country. The US and its future depend on an Iraqi victory. Iraqi politics have a great influence on America
*1 could also argue that an organization, the UN the greatest influence on America. The UN provided the roots or motivation for the WT0 and eventually regional agreements (NAFTA). The UN is increasingly a factor for successful American politics.
China is not an option if the EU is established. Also they are experiencing major issues themselves internally... they may topple in the future. If the question was, who presents the greatest threat to American Security in the future... then the answer would be China. In this case, China is N0T the M0ST INFLUENCIAL country to the US.
The Saudis would never leave the US market... they need US not the other way around! The US is the NUMBER 0NE market in the world. We have alot of people with money... a consumer market willing to spend not save. The worlds economy depends upon the US market... dont get it confused

I would have to say either Saudi Arabia or China, Saudi Arabia because they have so much money invested in our country that if they decided tomorrow it wasn't worth it anymore that they would cripple our economy to a point where we would be as bad or worse than when the economy crashed in 1929. I believe China also because we owe them billions of dollars I can't remember the exact amount but it is too much, they have influence over us because of that lingering debt and if they don't like something that we do then they will collect on that debt hurting us but not quite as bad as the Saudi deal I explained above. We also can't forget that China has something like 1.2 billion more people than we do and their army has staggering amounts of soldiers that get brainwashed by their commie government. So that is why I say both countries have a vast influence on what the US does.

Ireland. More than one quarter of Americans can trace their family history back to Ireland. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Oh, and I'm only "transient Irish."

I think it's a tie between China (as seen in last weeks stock market fall) and Saudi Arabia.
