How should i study for my final open book exam?

i never took these kind of exams. i mean when i can take material with me, still should i memorize important stuff?

Although you'll have the material with you, you don't want to waste much time looking through the information rather than actually doing the exam. Study as though you didn't get to bring the material with you, and then use the material in case of emergencies (unless it's stuff there is no possible way you could remember, in which case practice finding information as quickly as possible. The bottom line is that you want as little time looking through the material as possible.)

Do read everything you're supposed to have read, and while reading, mark important passages and make marginal notes and/or use sticky note tabs at each one that note in a few words what's on that page. That way, you can very quickly find what you're looking for. If the book has an index, that might be helpful too. But the basics you should know--you don't want to have to relearn things or have to read extensively for the first time or you won't finish.
