One night while driving to Block Buster Videos, I stopped by the ATM to make a withdrawal. I was about to put my card into the machine when I saw the words "Would you like to make another transaction?" I actually got a little scared when I read it. Then it dawned on me that someone else's card was still in the machine! I quicky selected no, and tried to find the person that was at the machine before I got there. I couldn't find the person. :( So Luckily the ATM was actually by the bank. There was a night person inside. I told her what happened, gave her the card and hopefully dude got his card back. :) There was a photo I.D. on the card so I'm sure she contacted him. Yesterday, someone left a credit card on the counter at the grocery store. The cashier ran out the store, found me in the parking lot and said, "Hey you left your credit card on the counter." So I told her I'm sorry that it's not mine. Careless people? Yes. But it's better to do the right thing. Comments?

Very good of you. And with all of the surveillance cameras and stuff they have at the bank, really you probably would have gotten caught if you would have emptied this person account. But no telling, who that person was. They may have 10 kids at home and that might be their grocery money. I would have done what you did. Matter of fact yesterday I was the recipient of some good person's honesty. I bought some wood and a few smaller things at Lowe's, loaded the wood and forgot the bag of other items on the cart. Went all the way home and realized I didn't have the bag. I ran back to the store, my brother telling me that someone found that stuff and kept it, and sure enough they had my bag at the service desk. Needless to say I was very happy to not have to buy all of that stuff over again. It is always better to do the right thing. I even correct the cashiers when they try to give be too much change. I figure if they are a cashier then they probably need their job and their money. If I take this money they might have to pay it back or even get fired. HONESTY IS ALWAYS THE BEST POLICY!

Circumstances define how honest you are, if it's actual cash they hold then up to $100 they'd probably just take it, as the number goes higher you would start to think that this money is important to someone. The reason people are more honest with cards (credit, bank, etc.) is because you feel like you're stealing, this is a persons card, it has their name on it. Cash is for everyone, there's no name or face to it.
Basically if you told someone that someone else left (X) amount of dollars behind and there's NO chance of you getting caught for taking it people would take it. The value of of (X) would be higher for some but there's a point when everyone would take it (regardless of what they actually say).

I love to be in those situation because I would always do the right thing. The reason why is because 1 it's the right thing to do. 2 you treat people how you would want to be treated. There has been times when I have lost things hoping that people would return them to a store manager or someone of that caliber but they never do. My husband left our digital camera outside in our apartment complex. I was hoping that someone would turn it in to the managers office, but no dice. So I know how it feels, so I would never abuse someone elses property.
It's not about being careless sometimes you forget things and by the time you remember it can be to late.

You are such a good person for doing this. There are not many honest people in this world like you. Like the old saying goes what ever you do , comes back to you 3 folds. And I shall say that you have a lot of great things to come to you.

Well.... I appreciate your actions. Its takes a lot to hold back on the opportunity of making "Easy Money".
Even I sometimes dream about finding some rich guys lost wallet esp. when tight on money but I also know that my conscience would never allow me something that low.

The world needs more of you.
Sadly, most would have kept the cards (both of them)
but better to return them and not have to feel the guilt (and other consequences) for stealing.
Kudos to you!

I would have done the same thing, probably, but I wouldn't depend on others to do the same.
