If this is a poll, it is certainly not especially scientific. Newer polls on this issue (Gallup, for example) ask whether people prefer the death penalty or life without parole.
According to a Gallup Poll, in 2006, 47% of all Americans prefer capital punishment while 48% prefer life without parole. Americans are learning the facts and making up their minds using common sense, not revenge. Count me as part of that 48%.

No, I don't support it, and no, I refuse to limit my response to "yes or no". The one thing that we can surely all agree upon is that it's a very emotionally charged subject. Those of us who oppose the death penalty find our position tested when someone like Jeffrey Dahmer goes on trial, since nobody I know shed a tear following his demise. Having said that, those who favor the death penalty can perhaps also recognize that if someone is executed and subsequently proven innocent of the crime, there's obviously no going back.

No - it can't be undone in the case of mistaken conviction.
(Yes and no answers are technically against the Yahoo Answers guidelines, except in the polls section)
