As a female trucker, I have lots of respect for the hard working, honest ones out there. We are an overworked, under-appreciated bunch who are vital to every aspect of the global economy. With the increasing shortage of skilled, experienced drivers it's too bad that there are many new truckers that can't drive worth a damn, and have poor attitudes. Makes it even tougher for the rest of us!

Most Truck Drivers are Good, Honest, Family men and women who are doing a vital job for never enough money or respect. These people leave the family every week to risk their lives on the road to deliver the goods that keep our country running. There are always a few bad apples in the bunch, but they don't last long. I have been in the business nearly 30 years and I can say with absolute confidence that the men and women driving truck today are as good as any that have ever done this tough job.

Generally, they're nice people that do a thankless job.
You figure some people don't like getting stuck behind a big rig while driving. Some even show their discomfort with truck drivers and the monstrous vehicles they drive by "visual indicators". But that just means other people are having a bad day and taking it out on the easiest thing to vent their anger at, the trucker.

I wouldn't want their job. Too many hours behind the wheel dealing with angry people in little cars.

I'll stick to operating bulldozers and scrapers.

Truckers are far by the most unappreciated job in the country. They bring us our medicine, food, building materials, fuel, .... Well, If you bought it, a truck brought it. I don't think the general population realizes how important the trucking industry is. If all truckers were to park their rigs for one week, the U.S.A. would be on the verge of becoming a third world country.

I think of someone who is devoteing their time for everyone else. Someone who thinks more of other people!
They help transport things place to place just for us!
I surely dont think anyone give them the credit they deserve either. They take their time traveling places to bring in stuff most people probaly couldnt live without. What I think of a trucker is a very devoted person who realy does care or while else would they be driving this big eightennwheeler that I doubt many of us would be able to drive because of the courage and the strength and time it takes to do this as a job!

My husband is an over the road truck driver. He said there is talk about a strike, but nothing has been set and no one knows for sure yet if there'll be one, or when it would be if there is one. He said if there is one, it will be 3 days at the MOST. I don't see any need for me to stock up for that short of a period of time. I keep a pretty well stocked pantry and freezer already.

I think of trying to pass a 10 ton gravel lorry on a narrow country road.

I was seriously thinking of becoming a driver at one point.

They do a damn good job, as do train drivers and ferry crews. Without them, this world would be a very different place.

Hard workers. Good drivers. Helpful when needed. A pain to get behind (or in the middle of) in the city during rush hour...
