So there is a robin that keeps pecking at the sliding glass door in my bedroom. I try scaring it off but it keeps coming back..

It just chills there, pecking at the glass and sh*tting on the deck.

I checked around and there is no place for a nest..

what should I do?

Breeding season is approaching quick, males can be a tad territorial ! If he sees his reflection as far as he's concerned there's an intruder in his territory. If you can put a screen on your window problem solved. If not you can place metallic paper strips that blow in the wind, raptor/ bird silhouettes / old Cd's on the outside of your window to try and discourage him. If all else fails try covering the outside of your window a few days and he might not bother you after, in your case since he's attacking from the window ledge you could also try covering the bottom of the window so that he can't see his reflection if he's standing there.

I had the same problem last year with a bluetit, I cut out a large picture of flowers and stuck it to the inside of the window and the bird never came back. Hope it works for you too.

Like the first answer says it thinks a rival is muscling in on its territory- when the mating season is over it will stop but until then it will continue.

Edit- You could find a picture of a sparrowhawk on the net and print it then stick it on the window and I suspect that that might deter it. You can find some at the site below.

Glass is highly reflective. A bird doesn't realize that the glass is acting like a mirror.

This bird thinks it is seeing another bird when it sees it's reflection and is trying to fight with it. Try keeping curtains drawn or put up some blinds to cut down on the reflectiveness of the glass.

Haha that happens to me with squirrels. There isn't much you can do but I started to put out some food for them and they are to distracted with eating that that they don't bother with the window anymore.
