Before answering your question I would need to know the footprint area in square feet or meters before giving you an estimate. Also, are you only planning on structure and no finish work or will this be price complete? Have you consulted with local authorities regarding the historical signifigance of the existing structure, in some places planning commissions become overly involved.
For me as a builder I normally charge about $750 (U.S.) per square meter and that is a work completed price with high-end finishes and fixtures.

As a rule I work on a basis of build costs of £1600 per square meter. No doubt this amount will cause so many others to say its rubbish and I'm mad, but I've been in this idustry for 19 years and this amount as a guid has served me well. Your best bet is get people in to give you a quote, just look in your local yellow pages or local news paper and see who offers free quotes and get them in to have a look. You don't have to appoint them and there is no limit to the amount of quotes you get, too many can get confusing . Even ask a friend or someone you trust if the know of anyone. Use your better judgement whe you meet the builder if you like the look of them and they impress you ask for references. Only use someone you feel comfortable with.
I'm in Hertfordshire and offer free advice and hold a data base of London Contractors

Generally depends on the building type, and size (do you live in a conservation area?). Get advice from a Chartered Surveyor or a competent builder not a cowboy firm.

how could anyone possibly answer this without seeing the plans?
this question makes as much sense as asking, how long is a piece of string!
get an architect to draw up plans. they will be able to advise on which builders to use and costs involved.

About £80,000.
Ours cost £50,000 ten years ago and we didn't have any demolition needing doing first.
