I'm not normally at all sentimental when I watch tv, but I saw that episode where Rock Lee fought Gaara (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1UUQke2gbg), and to be honest the outcome was probably the saddest thing I'd seen in a long time. Rock Lee is still my favorite though.

Mayb the 1 in which guy tell him lee to go on with the surgery and how dey talk bout wat would happen if lee died during the surgery and stuff!

The answer above. Sasuke didn't really die. I episode 76 and 77 are the saddest. Gaara finding out his uncle Yashmaru hated him.

The saddest episode is whenever Akatsuki extracts Shukaku from Gaara, and we all have to watch him die.
Until Chiyo and Naruto heal him, of course.

There were a few for me, I shed a few tears for each and partly to blame was the ohh so sadly played music :(
episode 19 when Zabuza dies
episode 100 when Gai tell Lee to have the surgery.
episode 114 when Choji looks on the tree and notices his friend words telling him to meet up with him and him finally collapsing looking as if he had died *BIG tears*
episode 134 when Naruto and Sauske fight *tear drop*

definately gaara and his past the fact that he had no one that loved him and the person he thought cared for him most wanted to kill him was the saddest o and his isolation as well as naruto's made me cry.
also when haku dies and naruto acted in frustration how zabuza was heartless but turned out he actually did care

i love naruto and others lol

I think the saddest (but best) episodes are the Mist Village Arc, where sasuke and haku die. That never fails to make me cry and i've seen those episodes twice now.

The saddest episode for me might be Sandiame (third hokage)'s funeral... When everybody was dressed in black and then Konohamaru was crying and stuff. Either that, or when Sasuke was leaving to Orochimaru and then Sakura tried convincing him to stay telling him how much she loves him and how she wants to be there for him, then Sasuke calls her annoying and ignores her. Then knocks her out :P...
NO WAIT!!
THE SADDEST EPISODE IS WHEN NEJI ALMOST DIES WITH HIS FIGHT WITH KIDOMARU (i think thats his name) the spider guy! Thats cuz Nejis my fave character :D

hmm i wouldnt say when part but like when Naruto always save Sakura and she always think its Sasuke and wouldnt show and gratitude to Naruto for saving her life all the time.
