how many 4 digit combinations are possible no my cell phone when there are 12 characters and what is the equation to solve this?

it is a 4 # code with 0-9 and # and * also... i know with 0-9 there would be 9999 combinations but how many combinations when u include the extra 2 characters?

b coz for each place there r 12 possibilities for filling the numbers

You'll have to explain this a bit better. First of all, a digit is a number from 0 to 9. So there can't be 12 possible digits. Are the characters somewhere else?

there is formulla
no. of combination=n C r=n!/(r!)(n-r)!

for this problem ans=12! / 4! * 8!
=12*11*10*9/24
=11*9*5
=495
