I cannot figure out how to save my standing point in this game? I've pressed all buttons possible-- is there something I'm missing?? PLEASE HELP!

IM SORRY its not a super nintendo! Its a fc twin that has a combo super nintendo and regular nintendo-- so my Q would be pertaining to NINTENDO! :) sorry!!!

You can't save super mario 3 on a super nintendo (sorry)

Ok, first thing is first SMB:3 was released on the NES so you're either talking about Super Mario World (SMB:4) or you have Super Mario All-Stars which includes SMB 1-3 and the Lost levels game previously only released in Japan. If you're playing Super Mario All-Stars you should be able to press the start button and choose "save and quit." If you're referring to Super Mario World you need to complete one of three types of levels. 1. Switch block activation. 2. Ghost House 3. Koopa Kid tower/castle. Once you complete one of these levels you will be prompted to save the game. Also if you are able to get on star road I believe that any time you complete on of those levels you can save as well. Hope this helps.

there is no such way to save a game of super mario 3. just buy new super mario and you can save.
