well, maybe they can't afford to keep incarcerating huge numbers of their citizens for a victimless crime.
America jails 10s of thousands of it's citizen for marijuana offenses. not only do the punishments far exceed the harm of the "crime" but criminalized marijuana feeds the illegal drug trade. Prohibition never works anyway.

Lobbyists for businesses like Dupont do no longer pick hemp competing with plastic products, and that they gained't provide an inch. Plus each and all the self keeping drug job forces who stay to tell the story off of forfeiture rules could be unemployed. each and all the jailers could initiate getting laid off. To many roles rely on drugs being unlawful. as nicely how could the decreased fee of Heroin influence the up and coming Afghanistan governments potential to fund itself?

Why not? I can't fathom for the life of me what harm someone smoking pot in his or her living room is doing to society. In my view, we should legalize pot and simply apply the same rules as alcohol: no driving or operating heavy machinery of any kind while under its influence. Though not a pothead myself, I've never met anyone whose life has been ruined by pot. Whereas people who've lost everything to booze are legion. (Home, marriage, friendships, etc.)
