Hello Rahim A, yes the little devils , mice only stay where there is a fresh supply of food. So the best thing to do is make sure you leave nothing for them to eat . Put as much food stuff in plastic containers with tight fitting lid´s . sweep the kitchen floor last thing at night , if you have out houses as in Garage, Shed´s that have potatoes , flower bulbs, soap, candle´s anything you think you can put into container´s do so . Mice store anything and everything, they eat through wires ,eat your clothes .and they can cause a lot off damage . We had problems once with mice and we set traps, not the little traps big ones and for bate we used Spanish Chorizo sausage, you can by this in most supper markets now. They also hate the smell of peppermint, and mothballs, so put some of this around where you think they are coming from. Sure you will catch them if you use the bate I mentioned, if you can´t find this use another type of sausage meat that has a very strong smell. Lets hope they pack there bags soon .

I just moved into a house with a roomate who had mice, so hope this is helpful.

1st and foremost, find out how they are coming and going from the house.

Pick up any pet food or trash cans off the floor and put on the counter tops for a week or two, make sure all dishes are immediately washed or put in the dishwasher until you have all of them out.

If you don't have pets or kids, you can put down poison traps. We have pets, so we used the ones that are sticky, but they require you to dispose of them (oftne they are still alive-ick!).
There are also the old fashioned spring traps - make sure you use the stinkiest cheese you have and maybe push a raisin into it (they love raisins ???) , but again you have to dispose of them.

Once you have a body count and no evidence of more, block off how they are getting in.

Make sure to move any of the appliances they were hiding/nesting behind and to get rid of their droppings with bleach (wear gloves and a mask) out where we are mice carry some serious diseases so I treated it like HAZMAT work.

Or - call an exterminator (if you can't face playing with dead mice.)

What my family did for this problem, was find the hole where they were going in and out, and plug it. After this, we got a mouse trap and also some poison. We also kept our kitchen very very clean. The combination of these things seemed to work. Some mice were stupid enough to go into the traps, and the rest couldn't find any food except the poison. We were mouseless after a couple weeks. We knew this because our cats stopped catching them.

You can buy several different traps. The one that kills them quickly....breaks their neck. Then pick up with a bag and throw away.

If you buy the sticky traps they die slowly, you hear them squeak till they die, unless you can pick it up and throw away outside down the street kind of thing........ My daughter would "rescue" them from the sticky trap with cooking oil and turn them loose in the park.

Also a little more money but worth it is an electronic pest repellent. I bought the ones made by Black & Decker at Target, a large one for bigger rooms is $18, 2 small ones in same pack is $15, or a single small one is somewhere between $7 & $9. Just make sure the packaging says it works for mice. These work good for bugs but are also used for mice.... I live in Sunny south Florida, lots of critters here.

They usually come in in the fall where I live, looking for a winter home.

This year I bought about 6 of these little things you plug in that make an ultra-high frequency noise that prevents mice from nesting in your house. They were inexpensive and work great. It might take a couple weeks of them being in place to drive mice out.

Make sure all your food is sealed up so there is no available food to attract the mice. Also, make sure crumbs are cleaned out of cabinets and off the floor. My dad had bird seed for his feeder attracting mice.

I have used glue traps successfully to get rid of mice. They are a plastic tray with a very sticky glue on them. Usually they have seed for bait, but I added peanut butter. Mice tend to roam when it's dark, so shut out the lights and most likely you will catch something overnight.

Mice like mouse poop. So look under your stove and fridge, if there is mouse poop clean it up with some bleach. If there are mice, there are usually places they are crawling in from...mouseholes. Check under your sink where the pipes enter the wall...that is a popular one. Place traditional baited mousetraps or glue traps in this area. Don't forget to check them regularly or you will have a decaying mouse in your home.
