I have a specific name that I wish to find out why he recieved the victoria cross i.e. what was his act of bravery? I know he was in the scottish regiment.

Not sure,but I think this info will be found by contacting the London Gazette. I`m sure all acts of official bravery are recorded here. I know because my Dad during the last world war received a small award and was mentioned in this paper. Try also Wikipedia.

I wish you had given the name and i would of looked it up for you.Go to google and type in Victoria Cross medal,there will be some pages there to help you with your search, it is a very interesting subject,and the people that recieved it were very brave,some even had it awarded after death,i hope this is of some help to you.

This website is a good source of information as it has the citations as well.
If you have the name, you will be able to find the Regiment. The Regimental history will have the full details of the citation.
