Pit is an excellent (and very noisy!) game of commodities trading.

Other games with a substantial economics/trading element:

Settlers of Cataan
Puerto Rico
1830

All of these are better than Monopoly.

Monopoly is very fun and it does deal with buying, selling and trading. However, it doesn't teach you much if that is what you are looking for, plus it takes forever to finish a game!
Life is also an excellent game. You get a job, buy stocks and get salaries, deal with insurance, etc.
