O-Rank is the overall ranking based on several years average and projected numbers for the upcoming year. It is a prediction of where the players should be ranked.
Rank - are the acutual numbers of how the players are performing. Since no games have been played this year, it shows last years numbers. After the first games are played Rank will change daily as the stats are posted - so the Rank numbers for the first few weeks will looked skewed based on only a couple of games of data - you may have a nobody player ranked number 1 because he went 3-3 in the first game. O-Rank will not change much throughout the year because it is based on several years of data.

During the year, you can check Rank to see who may be a good player for a specific need on your team - like check on all 2B who hit doubles, etc...Or who has a high avg..
Hoped that helped you a little including how to use the two.

Some good answers here -- too bad most are wrong. Enormous is correct, it is overall rank, not original rank. In my basketball league, Jamison started in the high 20's, his O-Rank rose to #9, and since his injury he has fallen back to a lower number. O-Rank is not original rank.

O-Rank is the ranking derived by Yahoo! by using a player's historical averages, season averages, and Yahoo's default settings. Season averages have the most weight and it changes continuously throught the course of the season. It also takes into effect things like injuries.

Rank is specifically based on who is the most valuable player in your league. It doesn't take into effect anything historical or and outside circumstances affecting a player's performance (ie injuries). In my league, while Jamison fell from 9th the 20's and 30's in the O-Rank, he fell to 72nd in the Rank at one point. The number is solely based on the season-long statistics for your players and your league settings.

o-rank is offseason rank, it takes into account where they are predicted to be picked.

Rank is actual rank. It is the point where they finished last year. Or if the season is in progress where they actually rank.

O-ranks do not replace for the period of the twelve months. Use the rank with the term, i.e. season, month, week which you experience is nice. look on the backside left of the participant website for a number of links to definitions. good success.
