Yes. I have worked in pre-need sales for funeral homes for the last 10+ years. It is very rewarding.
In pre-need sales you are not dealing with grieving families like a funeral director does. You are usually meeting with healthy people age 50 and older. It is a better alternative to traditional life insurance.
I am proud to say that over the last 10 years I have sold over 2,000 preneed policies and everyone I have ever met with has my cell phone number and my home number. In other words, people are very pleased with the service I provide.
It is a good career choice.

Funeral Home:Yes. Sales: No.
Funeral Directors provide services when people are at their lowest. The provide health and safety to the community by using proper embalming methods and disposal of contaminated items. They support local athletics for kids , and during a disaster, many provide free services to assist the community.

work at a funeral home yes.
DO pre need sales, NO!
I could probably offer comfort to those grieving at the funeral home....that is as long as I wasn't in 'sales'.
I would have a hard time trying to 'sell' someone more than what they need at a time like this. I would feel as if I was taking advantage of someone.
driving a truck or putting up chairs would be okay....
THE pre need sales I would NEVER DO!
the pre need sales would CAUSE grief to the person that cannot afford the high prices that they are forced to pay (but cannot afford)....

I am not a good sales person, but some of the other jobs would be o.k. I would be a driver or delivery guy, or help the mortician, or something. dig the graves. Depends on the pay, really. deadness doesnt really bother me, we all do it.

Sure, I can be cordial and sympathetic, and treat it like event planning so everything goes smoothly. However...not if I have to touch a dead body. I draw the line at that.

I would do it but make sure I am aware of the impact it would have on my emotions daily. If you think you can deal with people who have just lost someone on a one to one daily basis, more power to you!
