Do you think we react differently to their short-comings than we do our own? Why? Should they be treated differently, even when it comes down to punishments?

I do think that the public reacts differently to the short-comings of stars. I understand that they are under a lot of pressure and that they are put under a microscope. But, while all that maybe true, nobody has an excuse for doing some of the dumb things that they do. I have a news flash for celebrities: Just like regular people, if celebrities don't want to get caught in public doing illegal, immoral or just plain stupid things, then they shouldn't do stuff like that in public.

No they shouldn't be treated differently than normal people, especially when it comes down to punishments and justice.
