Hypothesis: If full wavelength of light is required for lima bean plant growth, then the absence of blue colored wavelength may reduce the growth of lima beans.

Like another post said, use an "if-then" statement. You could subsitute a different color wavelength instead of blue. I chose blue because plants react to the intensity of blue light. Lessening the blue light will cause poor growth - the strength of the radiation in any other part of the spectrum is not as important as the intensity of the blue, which shapes height and quality. Red light would be another good wavelength to study though.

A hypothesis is a statement of what you think is the reason for an observation.

If the observation is "Lima beans need light to grow and lima beans are green."

Then your hypothesis tells what you think might be the explanation for this observation.

Sample hypothesis:
"Lima beans use light wavelengths other than green."

Sample prediction:
"If my hypothesis is right, then lima beans will grow faster in other wavelengths of light compared with how they grow in green light."

If a lima bean plant is placed under ( your answer here), then it will grow (taller, faster.... you decide).
Hypothesis have to start with IF........THEN.
