They think that they have amassed a great team one year removed from winning it all. Their pitching is getting old real fast. No one knows how old Contreras really is and Buerhle and Garland are coming off of horrible years. Their bats aren't as feared as the other teams in the Central and quiet honestly they are at best 3rd or 4th best there. If they don't come out of the gate smoking hot their season is going to be one of playing catchup with the Indians, Twinkies and my pick to win, The Tigers.
Georgie its "Whiney" not "Whiny" some White Sox fan chastised me on one of my questions saying that a horse whinys White Sox and their fans Whine.

Why would anyone think that the Tigers would make it last year? Why would anyone think that the Cardinals would win it all last year? There are reasons:
If you are looking for a serious answer:
They have a powerful lineup. The run of Dye - Konerko - Thome - Pierzynski - Crede might just be the best in the league.
The bullpen is strong. As it stands, all can throw up to or over 100.
The starting pitching has been ranked in the top 5 in many publications. They are pretty good.
People hate Ozzie, but he is a winner. Look at him in Florida, then in Chicago. People like playing for him, and he knows how to win.
And they did win in 05. This team knows how to win, and if you believe in motivation, they are motivated from coming up short last year.
Remember, this is a team that won 90 games last year. I have never understood why so many hate the Sox (I believe it comes from the fact that a lot of gang-bangers used to wear the clothes, like the Oakland Raiders).
I don't hear anyone with a strong baseball base saying that the Sox will make the post-season this year. That is fine. They said the same two years ago. I don't know if they will make it. It is a tough division. But I do know that they SHOULD compete, but if they do not, and have a fire sale, they have a ton of talent in the minors who many will be stars real soon.

The White Sox were the favorite to the win the WS at the start of last year because they returned much of the same team from their Championship year and added Thome. But they underperformed terribly. Things like that happen. They will be better this year. The Indians did the same and this year they may surprise everybody.
Last year the Tigers came out of nowhere and surprised everybody, and they kept most of their team intact and added Sheffield (sound familiar?). It is very possible the Tigers will underperform this year and fail to make the playoffs.

They live in their own delusional world where they win the World Series every year! In the real world that's every 88 years!
Don't forget about the Piranhas in Minnesota and the Red Sox out east!

History means nothing. Its all about what you got today. I think The White Sox are going to The World series for the same reason you think The Tigers are going.
In "your opinion" The Tigers are the best team in baseball. In "my opinion" The White Sox are.
At this stage of the game its all talk.
Opinions are like *** holes everybodys got one.
Lets talk in october.
The last time the Sox had an opportunity we all know what happened.
Good Luck this season.

I'll give you a couple of good reasons. 1. Buehrle can't be worse than he was last year 2. They have actually won the World Series and not get their because their pitcher was putting crap on his hand 3. Jermaine Dye is the best right fielder in the A.L. 4. They will be going back to playing "small ball" like they did in 2005. 5. Podsednik will steal 80 bases this year because last year he had a hernia 6. And lastly, the Tigers absolutely choked a 9 game lead in their division and ended up losing the division.

a Quiet Off Season only thing that Happen was Juan Uribe DUI Arrest, otherwise the White Sox Might just Take advantage of the AL Central If not that then Then get in as the Wild Card, If the Tigers Indians Yankees Blue Jays or Twins get ahead of them, Seriously one or None will this year.
You see its all about Control coming 2007 these guys in control not like last year after Just winning thier first world Series since 1917, Do take them Seriously.

I wouldn't so much as worry about Chicago this year. Cleveland is the team to beat (next to Detroit of course). The Sox are on a steady decline. I guess the only reason why the talk playoffs is to keep the fan moral up.

The Sox did win the World Series 2 years ago and if it wasn't for Detroit's and Minnesota's amazing seasons last year, they would have won the division again. They still had a decent record. This year, pitching is questionable but I don't think that they are out of the race before it begins...

Why does this guy keep asking the same questions? Is it because he has such a problem with himself that he feels he needs to put down his favorite teams rivals? Why does he make the same stupid remarks about the Sox? This guy obviously has some self confidence issues that he feels better bringing out on a topic he is mildly informed.
