I have found that the mainstream press it's editors/producers are very biased and "left leaning" against Conservative Christians, They never seem to report anything positive about Christianity, only bad stuff and stuff out of context and deliberately ignore anything good that is done.
So I say they are liars

Freedom of expression (speech, press, etc.) are not absolute.
One of the exceptions (unprotected speech) is defamation, where false and harmful statements are published about someone. Without going into all the jurisprudence, it does matter whether the statments are true or false, and whether the press knew the statements were false.
Another exception is commerical advertising, or fraud. Where a person makes a materially false statement during a business transaction.
So, yes, anyone has the right to lie. But in certain situations -- perjury, false advertising, defamation -- you can be punished for lying.

Actually it gives them the right to print whatever they want to. As citizens of this country it is on our shoulders to discern what is truth or not. Unfortunately most people are either too lazy or too ignorant to take the time to find out whether what they are reading or hearing is the actual truth or not.
