I think most cheat because the idea of sex with another is more important or interesting to them then being monogomous with their lover...they often probably know the relationship is not working, or don't even want to be in it, but rather than man-up and get out, they take the easy way and cheat. If they're lucky, the other finds out and does the work of breaking up for them.

The way the question is worded indicates a threesome. That puts it into a whole new perspective. You do not indicate what kind of threesome either. Personally, I am a heterosexual who prefers no cheating. If I cheated, it would be for personal reasons.
