Reagan spoke of smaller government, less regulation, but spending under Republican control was out of control from 2000-2006. Has the corporate welfare state derailed the Goldwater/Reagan conservative dream?

There is a distinct difference between deregulating business and giving gifts to business. I think you have the cart before the horse as to the cause.

K street over the last 6 years was part of the Carl Rove strategy of a "permanent Republican majority" and was re-staffed with republican-favoring lobbyists, by the simple act of certain influential members of congress (centering on Tom Delay) and the WH refusing to meet with any other lobbyists.

That the piper was paid is not surprising.

Easy fix....Ban lobbying. Period!
