My supervisor, Mike threatened me on Thursday. His body was shaking and he was emotionally unstable. I reported him. The next day, my working professional colleague, Mary, confronted him on all the vicious things he was doing and trying to do to me. They were yelling and screaming. She threatened him. She said things like "you are absolutely disgusting" "don't you dare touch her"

What is your opinion?

You don't say what type of work you do or describe the company size and sensitivity to workers concerns. So that can have a big impact on the situation and your decisions. It shouldn't, but that is the reality.
Get an email from anyone involved asking them to describe what they saw or heard. Also to convey and discussion they may have had with your supervisor.
Send an email to his manager, a senior executive of the division or group, and the HR director.
Simply state what happened, avoid opinion, speculation or rambling on about non related topics, and blaming yourself in any way.
On this day at this time, this happened. On previous occasions, A, B, and C, similar behavior occured, but I was afaid to report it for fear of retalitation.
This is very important...."I consider this a hostile work environment, Mr. X was so angery and barely able to control his rage, that I felt I was in imminanent danger of being physiclly harmed. I have never exerienced anything like this before and it was an extremly tramatic experience. I will not resign my position as I have done nothing wrong. Please instruct me in writing has how I can be assured I will not face this type of abuse in the future. "
So if you do not see a clear and direct reaction, then go to an attorney and have them write a letter. There is very little the legal system will do for you, so with the attorney you are looking to get a few months salary, and have them pay for your legal bills, so at least you can move on. Good Luck.

I wonder why he threatened you. Not that it was right; just wondering what led to it.

Mary should have minded her own business. Or if she is in administration, she should have called him into an office and spoken to him in an even tone, privately, leaving the door open or having security personnel there if she felt threatened. She made things much, much worse for you and wasn't very professional about her approach or tactics.

Of course Mike was wrong to threaten you and to lose control. It sounds as though he needs anger management help. Mary doesn't sound much better. I feel sorry for you, working in such a volatile, unhealthy environment with obviously immature supervisors.

I think you should get the hell out of there before Mike comes back and shoots everybody up! Doesn't this situation resemble many others we've heard about where that happened? Mary only made the matter worse. She should have talked to him calmly and professionally. I think it would be for your own good to make a report to the police too. Don't take this lightly.

I think you should stay away from him !!! let the police or whoever handle this, Mary is trying to help you but there is not much she can do without getting herself in trouble so if he trys to do whatever again to you call the cops and sue him. You can find another job if you want your boss sounds like a phyco.

Neither handled the situation very well. SOmeone in a higher position needs to step in before this gets any more out of control. If I worked in this place, I would be worried as well.

I think that if any person above you in your job has the balls to threaten you, then he needs to be punished and definitly doesn't deserve his job
