Make no mistake about it, there is an agenda to "sexualize" young girls. It's sick. It's demented and it must stop immediately.
To understand why this is happening, you need to look at who runs the media, the advertising agencies, and who are the designers of these clothes.
You've got to remember, there's a virtual monopoly on who owns the media. There's only a handful of "big time/well known" New York ad agencies that push this stuff. The people manning those institutions are really screwed up. It's also the sick "sell out your mom for a buck" CEO's that are responsible for this. (The ones that own these stores that sell this trash.)
They're the gatekeepers who open the doors to some "messed up in the head" designer to market his clothes. If these media people and ad agency/pr people had morals they wouldn't dare promote these clothes.
People shouldn't tolerate these clothes, music videos or the Bratz dolls -- they should be screaming mad about this.

I think they answer is that the stores are caring more grown up clothes..My hubby grabbed an outfit the other day for our 4 year old and it looked like something a 14 or 15 would wear. I died....Alos, look who our children see on TV and music artists that is how they dress. Take The olsen twins for example.WOw how have they changed....It's just the world today. I'm so worried about in another 5 years with my daughter is older.

I'm 19 and I don't like to dress like a grown up even though I should, but I don't dress like a whore.
It is sad, when I go out somewhere I see really young girls and they look like someone who should be standing on a street corner because they look like whores.
A few weeks ago I was with someone at the store and she started laughing because she seen a young girl wearing such a short skirt, her butt was hanging out.
Kids go by what they see on tv and stuff they read, also they want to be like other kids so they will be liked. but it's mostly the parents fault because they let them dress that way and most people these days believe that is how girls have to look.

There a poll that 80% American teens reported losing their viginity by the time they where 18. Chicken or the egg?
I think clothing is just catching up to reality. American kids mess around much more than kids of any other advanced nation, whether or not American parent delude themselves of the contrary.

While there has always been a desire on the part of children to imitate their elders, there seems to be a desire on the part of mothers to encourage this. One would think that with the awareness there is today of the problem of sexual abuse of minors, one wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to dress one's small daughters like "sexy" adult women. I really don't understand what makes some mothers tick.

For the same reason, old women very often dress like teenagers.
Girls hurry to grow up.

This is a societal problem that is perpetuated by lazy parents...it's just that easy.
And it's funny that the Dateline question that I posted was getting such negativity. Check it out for yourself.
Pedophiles live for this stuff, seriously.
PARENTS NEED TO WATCH THEIR CHILDREN AND LEARN TO SAY "NO" TO THEM!!!

because of the things they see in magazines. Either that, or they see their parents dressing that way and want to be like their moms and do it. it's also the parents' fault for buying the clothes.

It's because thats the scene they see on TV and they want to be just like the celebrities they adore so much.
And also, because their parents allow them to.
It's sad, but what can we do? We can't tell people how to raise their kids (and expect them to listen to us). But whatever. Loves,
