There are several things going on that contributed to the dath of your fish.
One, you did over feed. That caused pollution in the water.
Second, you have a bowl which is not really a good thing to begin with. You need to have a tank that can be filtered and heated.
Third, the bowl cannot develop the beneficial bacteria needed to provide the fish with stable water.
Forth, you are over crowded. At best one fish will live in a bowl, you shouldn't have that many in there.
I would suggest you get a 10 gallon tank kit to move your fish into. Starter kits are not expensive and will crtainly be better for the fish and cheaper than losing and buying more fish all the time.
You should also take a few minutes to read about the basics of how an aquarium works and what is needed to kee the fish alive.

Fish bowl not a home for fish. They even make them blind bcoz of the bulged glass. Also the oxygen supply will be continous only when the water at the surface is at constant circulation. Or provide bubbles from the bottom that makes the water chagne at the surface continously.
Also keep an aquarium instead of a bowl, coz bowl get dirty very soon with the food itself and the tank also has to hold the excretes of the fish, however you ought to purify the water with a filter for the whole 24 hours.
Over feeding is not the case when only two or three pellets or flexes are more, but it is the case when you feed a quantity more than what all your fished would finish in 5 minutes.
There is no exact measure as to say what is more in quantity. It can be judged only with experience. But a begginer shall feed the fish not more than what they consume in 5 minutes, regardless of howmany fishes and of what size they are.

Most fish will not do well in a bowl. Betas and goldfish are some of the few that will do just fine in a bowl. Pretty much any other fish will need a proper tank with a filter system and a heater. Also, you generally want to stick to about 1 avg sized fish per gallon of water in the tank. Fish secrete their nitrogenous wastes (the stuff we urinate) out through their gills. If you have too many fish in a small area thats not well circulated or filtered it will essentially poison them after a while.
PS: It sounds like the small fish you have is a neon tetra. Does it look like this? http://img.diytrade.com/cdimg/99256/202154/0/1036078179.jpg
Edit: I'm not sure why people are giving me low ratings... I have said all the same stuff as everyone else, excpet no one has talked about the buildup of nitrogenous waste. If you don't believe me... read the background in this paper: http://www.umsl.edu/~microbes/pdf/There's%20Something%20Fishy.pdf

Sounds like you need to cycle your tank, this can take up to 8 weeks, only put in a couple of hardy fish like Zebra Danios and feed crumbled flake food (only a couple of flakes a day). Once your tank has cycled you add more fish. Look up CYCLING AQUARIUMS on the net.

Why did they die? Because you killed them. Tetras can't live in bowls, no fish should ever be in a bowl. Toxin level in bowls rise very very quickly killing the fish. Go spend $40 and get a nice tank setup with a filter and heater.
