EPCOT isn't shaped like a golf ball. There is a giant sphere fully lifted off the ground that looks like a golf ball in the park, which contains the ride Spaceship Earth. This ball was the first Sphere to be completely lifted off the ground. Disney obviously want to be the first to do this. You can't really make a piece of land look like a golf ball...

Do you mean Spaceship Earth at the front of Epcot? If so, the answer is just that it was designed that way to give a futuristic, unique image to the park.

If you're talking about the layout of the entire Epcot theme park, then it's actually shaped like two golf balls -- sort of a figure-8. The first circle is Future World, and that's where you'll find attractions like Mission Space, Test Track, and the Living Seas. The second circle is the World Showcase, and that's where you'll find all the countries.

Hope this helps!

Well, it's not really shaped like a golf ball. It appears that way, but the Geosphere (the icon of EPCOT) is constructed from thousands of small triangular shapes. There's a gutter system running between these triangles so when it rains it doesn't create a waterfall-type effect. Instead the water is emptied into the World Showcase Lagoon.

It's not a golf ball. It's something called a Geosphere. It's EPCOT's icon. It has a ride inside of it called Spaceship Earth. Hope this helps. Check it out at http://www.disneyworld.com!

The "golf ball as you call it is actually the attraction called Spaceship Earth. It is shaped like a planet. The design was developed with the help of Sci-Fi writer Ray Bradbury as a Geodesic dome.

I agree with James. The big "golf ball" is called Spaceship Earth, and it represents the future.
