Robert S. has the answer AND be sure the two wires are tightly twisted together before putting a wire nut on the pair (there are wire nuts that come prepared for this connection). If you don't have to, don't even use aluminum wire.

If you are joining both metals you have to make sure you use a wire nut or connecter that is rated for copper and aluminum
And Nolox is a anti corrosive agent due to the air corroding the aluminum

Your question is not very specific. I assume you are asking which to use. When it comes to wiring, always use copper if possible. Aluminum is softer and has been known to get hot and melt that can cause a fire. The only down side of copper is the price.

Any time you join copper and aluminum wires you have to use a product called NOLOX it stops the chemical reaction from the two metals.

robert has the answer but code wise you have to crimp and not use wire nuts.. but i use nuts. i'm also guessing the question was installing new wire.. use copper and get over the price.. entrance cable is a different issue where alum is fine
