There are so many tenses, moods and like a million conjugations and its really confusing. Am i fine just knowing past, present and future tense? do i need to know all the others to have a full fledged conversation with a native french speaker?

It depends on the conversation! Sure, you'll be able to (hopefully) ask for directions, order a meal, make simple small talk about hobbies, the weather, and what you're going to do this weekend, all the standard French 101 topics. But it severely limits what you can talk about, or at least talk about and be understood (and understand).

All the tenses and moods will come in time even if they don't sink in the first time around. I assume you are still taking French classes. If not, or if you don't get a lot of speaking practice in class using different tenses and moods, you might try joining or starting a conversation group or find a French person to practice with. It's one thing to learn the grammar rules from a book, but it won't really sink in until you have to use them.

Well, yes, that is okay but it's like trying to speak with someone who cannot speak English.

Oui, you need to know all tenses.
