Why should anybody need to contribute to society?

Because everyone is a member of society and society needs people's service. If you don't contribute to society, then why do you live? I guess the answer could be personal satisfaction, but I think this is a meaningless reason to live and it wouldn't make a slight difference if they died. People have certain talents and they should use these talents to help others, so that people can live a little more happily. Everyone should live as thought they will leave the world a better place than they entered it.

if you arent contributing to society in some way then it would seem to me that your life would kind of be a waste. but you can contribute in a lot of ways. having a job is what i think most people think of, but just by having friends and being good to them and your family you are ultimately contributing to society. i guess technically if you are bad to them you also contribute to society but not in a way that helps society unless its for giving more job security to cops and therapists

Key word is need. We all need to contribute but not many do. If we all did our part, it supposedly would make society much easier to live in but in my opinion, probably not.

Your children. Yourself. It's the right thing. It makes life interesting. The future. It's necessary for self-devolpment. You can't help others so how are you able to do any good?
