Do your own homework and use a better resource then the internet. Try breaking your question down. When was soap invented, for what purpose? When did it become common place? What were its first uses. What kind of places currently use soap and what functions does it serve? Now, once you have those answers, ask, what would it be like in those circumstances if there were NO soap?!

Though I feel you should do this yourself, I'll give you a hint: Would you want to have surgery if there was no such thing as soap or cleaner?

What kind of soap? Dish, body or clothes? They all work differently like clothes soap helps to break down dirt and proteins that get caught in the fibers and can then be washed away with the water so your cloths don't have old body smell on the inside and dirt or grease on the outside! Next body soap does the same and also some kill germs that can harbor on the body and if left alone could make their way into the body with the brush of your hand across your mouth after leaving a public restroom. Dish soap helps to break down grease and food to clean it from your dishes so it doesn't stick to you pots and pans so the old food isn't sticking to it and attracting bacteria that could make you sick like salmonella or botulism, so you see we need soap to keep us safe from unwanted invaders in or on our bodies. You need to watch the old movie " The story of Louis Pasture " and see how he worked hard to expose and help heal us from bacteria and also about Dr. Lister who Listerine is named after is also in the movie. I hope this helps.

well could you imagine having to used sand to wash your dishes or some weeds to wash your hair? Or how about having to beat your clothes on a rock to get them clean. Soap kills germs and helps prevent the spread of infection. How would you like to stand next to a guy after gym class that has not used soap ever!? ewwwww! I read a lot and the indians used to use sand to clean themselves--I would not want that in my tender areas!
