Whenever I turn the wheel, the front tires make a really high pitched screeeeech. Like a banshee screaming. And its only getting worse...Any ideas on what it could be?

check your power steering fluid and make sure it is not low.
if it is find out what the manufacturer recommends and replenish the fluid..of cours if it is gone, there is a leak somewhere.if it is full of fluid the pump is probably going bad.the rack and pinion usually doesnt make noise,it usually causing a binding in the steering.if you have a seperate power steering belt it could be going bad too.good luck

Is it really the tires?Have a friend listen from outside[safe distance away]I would be more inclined to believe that you have a loose power steering belt.If not check your tire pressures.also, alignment could be off.Best bet, take it to a qualified mechanic and have it checked over.Hope this helped.

if the noise is while you turn the steering wheel check the fluid level of powerer steering. it could be low.or the belt is loose.

It means you are ready for new brakes. That is the brake wear sensor contacting the rotor. It is designed to make that noise when the brakes get low
