I think it would be great to have a woman president. After all, we "ladies" represent more than half the population; surely our "majority view" should warrant that "one of us" occupies the White House in other than the capacity as First Lady?
As for candidates, I just don't know about Senator Clinton. I would have advocated her back in the '90s, but I think she has become somewhat shrill and calculating since then. I would possibly back a candidate like Dr. Rice if she chose to run; as Secretary of State for the past 3 years I think she has the mettle, but I would worry that she doesn't necessarily have the leadership qualities (i.e. she is more of a follower). I like strong women like Barbara Boxer and Elizabeth Dole better in many ways that Senator Clinton and Dr Rice. They have been prominent in American politics in their own right, i.e. not riding on the coat-tails of men, for longer than Clinton or Rice (for anybody who says Senator Dole has ridden on her husband Bob's coat-tails, you don't know much about her or him). I am very proud of our women governors and mayors, as well as senators and congresspersons.
Has anybody noticed that our women politicians are rarely mired in the kinds of scandals that the men are?
And anybody who thinks female leaders aren't tough enough, just look at Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meir, Indira Gandhi, Corazon Aquino.
With so many successful women PMs and Presidents around the world, in a way the major parties in the US are downright backwards for not putting forward women candidates. I mean, in the entire history of the country, only one woman has even been nominated, and then only as VP.

I think Margret Thatcher was awesome and I think Condi Rice could do OK. No, I don't think it is a good time for women leaders because the world we are dealing with right now doesn't acknowledge women for the most part. A spell back in time maybe but not now. And to have people elect a woman president just because she's female is suicidle. I'm sorry but Hillary is not presidential material.

I think it's a good time for a female president. I just don't think she's the one. It might not be right or fair but whoever is the first female or other minority president is going to be under greater scrutiny than anyone else. Their success or failure is going to set the stage for the future. She's in a very tough place because she's also under the shadow of her husband. Good or bad. People have said time and time again....you either love her or hate her. Too extreeme for me. It would be better to be love her or be able to tolerate her.....not hate her. She flip-flops too much for me. She does come across strong though, which is tough for a woman. So she's got what it takes to lead and command respect. There's just so much baggage........just not the right one. I'm just personally done with the Clinton/Bush era. Their faces have graced the screen for too long and I'm sick of them all.

I believe that if there were a credible candidate that shared my beliefs and focused on the issues that were important for this nation as a whole I would have no problem in voting for that person, no matter what race or sex that candidate was. Hillary is not that person and will never be that person.

I think this is as good a time as any for a female President but I don't think HIllary Clinton is the right person. I distrust her and believe that she and her husband are very self-serving people.

I don't care what the gender is....I just want a good President; one who gives a damn about the American people, our freedoms, our liberty and our right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".
After that madman in the Oval Office, Pee Wee Herman would be a relief.

I would love to have a woman....just not her...It sucks that she is the first one to try for it. The health care thing is too over the top for me
