If a woman tells a man that she is carring his baby when is not true, that creates a division between truth and reality. From that moment the reality is that the man think is his baby and maybe marry her and live happy maybe or who knows, but the truth is that is not his.

Neither truth or reality is affected by what anyone believes, but a lie will out eventually. What happens then depends on the attitudes of the folk involved.
If the man is a good person, he will know that the child has become his no matter who the biological father was. But if he has trouble with that truth, what would have been a small pain for one, will become a great pain for all.
In general secrecy is all bad, and this sort of secret can ruin lives, even if the husband never learns, but the child does later in life.
