Do you start it with rubber bands or with something else? I bought a bunch of rubber bands today and I have nothing to do with them except for shooting them. Which can have consequences.

Rubber band balls can be made with just rubber bands.

Depending on size of rubber bands, take about 20-30 in a bunch. Align all the rubber bands together and use another rubber band to knot them together in the center. Fold over the loose ends, and use center band to again wrap around the bunch. The ball does not start out round, but as you wrap the bands around taking care to catch in the loose loops, it will start to form your ball shape. The initial bands should be wrapped tight as possible without busting the rubber band. When the ball is the size of a golf ball, then you start layering the bands to tweak the round shape.

I started mine with rubber bands but many people start them with the small 1" bouncy balls.

You could just crumple some foil or paper.

Wasn't there a Henry Huggins story about this? :)
