For those of you that have done the snorkling excursions would you recommend taking a snorkling lesson class before going on vacation and doing a snorkling excursion in the ocean? Thanks!

If you can do a front float you will be fine. I did not take lessons before I left. But with all my cruises after I took my own gear. The face mask fits better, the snorkel has a splash feature on top so no water gets in, and this is the most important no one else has used it. You will absolutely love it. Also please be careful not to damage the sea life on the bottom by standing or kicking you fins too close to the bottom.

You can take a lesson on snorkelling, it is pretty easy to get the hang of it. Why not ask your local dive centre and have a trial dive and a snorkel lesson with an english speaking guide and decent equipment over here?
You can buy your own equipment if you like the sport and then your not using some chewed up school snorkel

The main thing about snorkeling is to get a mask that fits your face. If it leaks it's no fun. Go to a dive shop and get fitted. You put the mask on and breath in, if it clings to your face without help, it's a good fit. I never had a lesson.
However, most tour guides that take you out will give you a mini lesson.
Snorkeling is a lot of fun and very relaxing.

I don't think it's required it's very basic, if your going to dive then that's a different story, if your on a guided expedition your guides are their to teach you anything you may not understand or you may need help with but it's a very basic thing.
