Yesterday I was on the golf course. While walking, I tripped over a rock, fell down and scraped my knee. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have tripped except for the sweat in my eyes kept me from seeing where I was going. I wasn't sweating because it's was 73 degrees and I was walking the golf course. No, I'm sure I was sweating because of global warming. Because 15 years ago, I didn't sweat until at least mid-June.

So, is this George W. Bush's fault that I was sweating? And isn't there some government program that should pay for my round of golf, a sweat band and some new golf pants(the old one have a hole in the knee now) since I was injured do to no fault of my own (except for the fact that I didn't stop and wipe the sweat out of my eyes)?

I should be do something for pain and suffering too. I might not ever be able to work again. That knee could be ruined for life. Don't I deserve a government pension and to stay out here on the golf course instead of working?

Ignoring the silly parts and actually addressing the law....

No, you cannot sue. A law suite against the government requires standing, meaning that you have suffered a personal harm that can be directly traced to government action, and that the government action taken was either illegal or unconstitutional.

Nothing in the Constitution requires the govt to prevent global warming (except, arguably, the long term right to life on the planet). So, the govt's actions in doing (or not doing) whatever it's doing are not unconstitutional.

Standing also requires that you suffer an injury that is personal to you, not the same kind of injury that everyone else is suffering. So, if the govt passed a law giving 90% of the federal budget to Luxembourg, unless you personally were affected differently than the rest of the US population, there is no individualized injury.

Finally, political policy decisions are usually not reviewable by the courts, unless they are unconstitutional (see above). Where they are within the discretion of what Congress (or an agency of the executive branch) can do, then the courts cannot compel action just because you don't like what the govt is doing. Your remedy is through the electoral system, not the judicial system. That's called a "non-justiciable" question.

You are so brave!

A lot of people are going to make fun of your pain and suffering, but that's how Conservatives are. They lack compassion. Maybe they were just born mean.

Just last week I was with my good friend Barbra Streisand, and we were chatting and strategizing for our next anti Global Warming Strategy. We had the opposite problem. It was so darn cold! Bab's Prada sunglasses would just get fogged up every time we'd walk from the in from the frigid outdoors.

If my good friend Barbra Streisand had hit her nose against a wall due to fogged up sunglasses, that would have been Bush's fault! I have a theory: our planet is like a gyroscope, and it tries to balance everything out. So, this last winter was so bitterly cold because our brave mother earth has to battle that rotten President Bush.

What's even worse is that they're predicting a really cool summer, so we're all going to have to wear sweaters in the Hamptons this June! Isn't that going to look silly? We've already bought a lot of white clothes for summer, but we're going to have to wear some bulky sweater just because our planet is forced to battle Bush's insidious global warming.

No three things could cause sweating earlier that you used to:

1. You are older and therefore your body functions work differently.
2. you gained weight
3. the sun is more intense that it was 15 years ago due to climate, location, or atmospheric conditions.

Dont blame the Government for your problems. And we need to stop sueing for things we cause ourselves. And the scams like the "finger in the chili".

That's the risk you take when playing golf. Now you'll have to play something indoors in the air conditioning and sitting down. How about poker?

While this is very funny, it actually shows some of the convoluted reasoning behind some of the really stupid lawsuits that go on in the U.S. Our judges need to stop accepting cases that are baseless and senseless.

WHAT DO YOU SUPPORT?
what do you buy that encourages "global warming"?

We all may be buying things that are "overdoing it" WAY more than we need to be "doing it" or in reality WE the PEOPLE need to be better consumers, you know... we may have to buy that better gas mileage car or DEMAND a better mileage car, I think that there are way too many DIFFERENT TYPES OF CARS, which is really the PEOPLE's choice and so who do we blame but ourselves.. I mean if there were LESS DIFFERENT MODELS they could focus energy on making a SAFE/AFFORDABLE/ECO-SENSITIVE/RELIABLE car all around...
Our auto emmissions are only part of it, there are CHEMICALS which we DUMP DOWN drains and APPLY to our FARM FIELDS which cause problems, there are EMMISIONS from POWER PLANTS burning coal or oil or wood or natural gas or GOD KNOWS what NUCLEAR EMMISIONS are doinig.... I mean we really need to focus on our POWER GRID and come up with SAFE ELECTRIC if that means SOLAR or WIND than that is what that means... the wind cries mary...

No, you have to sue McDonalds. Eating that fatty food has clogged up your arteries making you sweat at 73 degrees.
