I'm trying to find the name of the artist, but I can only remember a few words of the song.?

It's a female singer and the song is about being shot through or in the heart again. It was recorded prior to 1996, maybe as early as the late 1960s. And no, it's not the Bon Jovi song...That's all I remember unfortunately. Lyric web sites are no help. The name of the song MIGHT be "Shot through the Heart" but I don't know the artist.
