I just got a '92 toyota paseo and the tail light fuse just blows. I'm thinking a wire is being grounded somewhere. I checked behind the lights but everything is connected correctly. Is there an easier way to find out the problem than following the entire circuit. If there isn't where should i start?

Here are just a few places to look for a grounded wire,
- under the dash and around the column, along the frame rail, and pinched between the trunk and the cabin.

You have a grounded hot-wire somewhere and the best way that I have found to find them is to start at the rear and work forward. You will need to get a wiring diagram for your vehicle to find out which wire goes where and a test light.

Good luck and hope this helps.

I am sure this used car was purchased for an individual and not a car lot ---- if you bought it at a car lot then you need to go to the state police and tell them what kind of cars the lot is selling and that your vehicle is not road worthy ((( do not try to confront the dealer until you have correct info))) ---- if you bought from a individual then you just got to repair the short in the light wires----this is a job that requires you to get under the car and inspect for torn wires---- maybe the car was wrecked---- and possibly spliced or changed light fixtures --- get some black electrical tape and start up front and under the hood --- looking at all the wiring and circle tape the rear loom of wires every 12/16 inches as you work to the back of your ride.... you can finger the problem if you take your time as well as save some $$'s --- get all the fuses ..light bulbs and tape before you get started so you can stay focused.....

I work on my own vehicles and many of my friends. Electrical problems can be a headache. I would personally take it to a mechanic. I have rebuilt motors, fixed brakes, changed motors and transmissions, etc, refuse to work on a vehicle with am electrical short because they can take days or weeks to figure out.

Start at the light switch. The switch itself may be bad.
