Ok so there is this lady called Kate, who used to give me swim lessons (to improve technique, not how to swim), and i kinda stopped taking lessons bout a year ago, coz i was gettin way 2 busy for them. but, this sunday, another friend who takes lessons w/ her is having a surprise party for her because she's moving really soon. I'm not sure if I should dress up, or if I should act sporty and wear like one of my swimming t-shirts or something. Any ideas?

You have to call the party organizer and get a cue from her.

As she and you were involved in swimming classes, it would be great if you had a "sporty" theme and wore "sporty" clothes.
If you're still in doubt, go in jeans and a cute, sequinned top. But, wear your hair in a high ponytail.

Good Luck!

It's all about what would make you feel comfortable. If you'd feel good in your swim clothes, go in those. If you'd feel underdressed, wear something a little fancier, like a skirt.

You could always take one of your swimming t-shirts, cut of the sleeves, and put it over a nicer long sleeved shirts, and wear a jean skirt or something.

My final advice would be to call another person at the party, and ask them what they are planning to wear.

huh... just dress smart casual will do. Collar shirt or polo shirt with jeans will be good enough. You can also get her a small gift for a surprise at the end of the party? It will leave her a gd impression as you said she will be moving out soon, right? Add a small note inside and don't forget to write down your contact .. . =)

Go with jeans and a nice shirt with flip flops that way you'll look like you put some effort in to but, you'll look casual at the same time.

Wear casual clothes like a polo shirt and dockers. I don't think it would be appropriate to wear your swimming t-shirt.
