I'm sure that there used to be 64 teams. Now there is 65. How do they get parings for games from 65?

There is a play-in game for two teams. The winner advances to play the #1 overall team in the first round.

There is a play-in game between numbers 64 and 65 this coming Tuesday to pare the number of teams down to 64.

The play-in game allows one of two schools from some very minor Div 1 conferences an opportunity to get into the big dance. When the game is complete ... we have 64.

Once the pairings are announced Sunday, you will get a better idea what I'm talking about.

It doesnt the 2 bottom ranked teams play each other and the one that wins is the one that stays in the tournament. The 65th team is basically for a team who is from a small school and was good enough to be put into the tourney.
