I'm doing a bit of research into the Zodiac killer, since the Zodiac frequently mentioned his victims becoming his slaves in the afterlife, I'm looking for a connection between the suspects' beliefs and this particular belief.

It is the other way of what you have written.

The Hinduism speaks of Karma - the law of cause and
effect. The murderer will be bound to sereve the murder
victim in the next life. It may not be through slavory, but
through other methods for a life time depending upon
the mode of murder and the situation that led to it.

I have heard of gangs in New Orleans that believe that their victims become their slaves in the afterlife.

I don't know...but shouldn't those roles be reversed (in the "afterlife") ??? I think you got it backwards, I hope.

There is no religion to believe your contention which is very wrong. Maybe the atheists group who believes on nothing but their own selves.
