this is the time in your p.c,s life when you start bangin your head against the wall, but there are ways to clear massive amounts of space from your hard drive
1.first go to run and type %temp% and then return, this will take you to your temporary folders page, then go edit>select all, then when all the files are highlighted go to "delete selected items" and this wil delete all your temporary folders
2. go to my computer and then right click "local disk c"and press properties,on the window that appears click "disk clean up"this will again give you hard drive a good clean getting rid of useless files
3. go to http://www.iobit.com/AdvancedWindowsCarePersonal/index.html,and download advanced windowscare personal, this is a one-click cleaning tool that will clean your hard drive of useless files and also cleans the registry and looks for spyware and deleted it,a excellent tool and highly recommended
4.a good clean out of your programs is allways a good idea so go to your add/remove programs in control panel and remove any unwanted programs or applications, you can free up masses of space this way and also increase your systems performance, also if you use winzip go to the unzipped folder in my documents, and dlete all the files in there,i normally find around 5gb of unzipped files when i delete these, and generally delete any file that is no longer used, all the space helps
5.finally you can delete all your restore points to free up some more space, but make sure your system is stable when you do this ,last thing is you need a system restore and there are no restore points to use,to do this right click my computer and then go to the system restore tab, then tick the box to turn off system restore on all drives, then restart the p.c,when your system starts up again remeber to untick the box to re-enable system restore,as you should never leave this off,but by deleting the restore files you can free up loads of space, infact system restore uses 12.5%(one eighth) of your hard drives capacity,so if you have a 160gb hard drive thats a massive 20gb
i hope this has helped
good luck

Hi,
There is no need to defrag your HP Recovery drive letter. When operating, your computer does not use that drive. It is only used when you use the recovery program. Even if HP Recovery needs to be defragged, it is not affecting the speed of your computer.

Well...if you have a cdrw (cd writer) then you could back up your music files, etc. from my documents then delete them from your hard drive first so you could defrag...or, if you have more than one partition then you could transfer files to the other partition...
You could also save your files in your external hard disk - if you have one...
You could uninstall programs first then reinstall them after defrag...

Just find the biggest useless programs you can and kill them. If you have stuff loaded which you can replace later, like games, players, other software, kill them for sure.
