There is a bill going to the Govenor for him to sign to ban Cock Fight in this state. First offence is a first degree misdemeaner, second offence is third degree petty misdeemneaner and the third offence is a fouth degree felony.
This State also has laws against dog fight but are not enforced.
If the Govenor signs this bill do you think that any of the Mexicans who enjoy this sport will stop?
I don't think so. Pit Bulls fight in pits and nothing happens to them, they just plead down do a lower charge and walk out the door. Cock fighting will be the same.
I think the reason they allow either one is because there are a lot of Mexican Nationals living in the State and in Mexico it is an everyday sport.
Both are against the law but it seems the law turns their eyes in another direction and ignores it.
What is your opinion of the laws of the State?

The words I use are as they are used here locals. A male rooster is a ****.
The law looks the other way. There is a ban on dog fighting but it goes on any way. You see scared up Pits all over. You find carcases in the mesa, in ditches, dumped along side the road.
Right now they are trying to pass a law to prohibit (OK) Rooster fighting. It has been looked down on and stopped if caught (cruelity to animals carries a fine and time in jail) but only if they get caught. Now the Law Enforcement wants a specific law forbidding it so they can instill stiffer penelities.
