The Medical Doctor you have is taking the correct steps to monitor your Blood Pressure and the health of your unborn infant.
There are a couple of things that they are worried about -- pre-eclampsia (one), blood pressure in the infant being too low, and other issues.
As a working Woman (and one on Active Duty with the Military when I had my children), I did have High Blood Pressure ... and yes, they monitored me me too ... and at the time they noticed this problem ... I did end up being treated with medications, and was able to finish the last few weeks of the pregnancy successfully.
Sometimes, one needs bedrest, and yes, eating healthy meals is also a good idea (try to stay away from cravings). I also would (When I could and stay calm), propped myself up into a comfortable position with pillows to ease any pain I had in the back from how my children were positioned.
Just for information ... inducing is also a possibility -- that means that you would have your child just a wee bit before 40 weeks. But for you, with the child at 37 weeks, you can relax ... the child won't have the difficulties or needs of a child that is born earlier in a pregnancy (yours wont have the difficulties of the premies).

He might decide to induce you, high blood pressure can cause complications for you and the baby. Did he give you any tips on what you should do during this week to lower your blood pressure? I wouldn't go and start eating a lot of protein like the first person said unless your Dr. told you to do the same. I think that would apply more throughout the whole pregnancy, not to lower blood-pressure at this late point of your pregnancy. Just try to remain calm during this week, and see what happens at your appointment. If you start to feel differently or badly, call your Dr. right away. And don't worry, if you are induced now, the baby is actually pretty much considered full-term. Good Luck.

Has your doctor spoken to you about PIH (pregnancy induced hypertenstion) or preeclampsia? Well a headache that does NOT go away with tylenol could be a sign. If you haven't taken tylenol yet, take some now. Wait awhile and if it doesn't go away, call labor and delivery immediately. If you have already taken tylenol for your headache and it hasn't gone away at all, call right now. Call labor and delivery, explain your history of high blood pressure and tell them how you have a headache thatr will not go away with tylenol. They will most likely want you to go in. Your blood pressure can go up so fast. EDIT: please don't use one of those store blood pressure monitors. They are almost always inaccurate and will say you have high blood pressur whether you do or not. Even the doctor will tell you not to use one of those things.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

How high was it? I wouldn't worry too much either way though because you are 37 weeks, and going nest week you will be 38 so your baby will be fine if delivered then, but I will keep my fingers crossed for you to stay full-term!! Sometimes it just happens though because you gain weight fast in the last month, so it could be just that! Try not to worry though, I am sure it is normal, also if you have a lot of back pain that can elevate your BP! Good Luck and Congratz o the little one!!

High blood pressure can be mild or very dangerous depending on severity. Severe cases are treated with total bed rest, meds, sometimes in the worst case scenario they have to induce labor immediately or there could be a serious medical emergency.
Look up "toxemia" which is the severe form of pregnancy high blood pressure. I hope this doesn't alarm you, you're already well enough along that your baby wouldn't be a premie even if you had to give birth earlier than you expected.
I'd pack my hospital bag today before going to the doctor if I were you (and take it with you), every so often someone's rushed to the hospital without being allowed to go home to get their things.

Eat a ton of protein, pronto! The doctor will want to induce you or give you a c-section if your blood pressure is elevated. When your blood pressure is high, the baby's blood pressure is low, and the baby *could* have a tough labor. Eating a lot of protein during your pregnancy helps keep your blood pressure stable. I'll post the link below - hopefully it's not too late to turn it around so you won't need too much medical intervention!

This could be the first sign of pre eclampsia. Have you gained a lot of weight in the past week? I am 33 weeks along and my blood pressure has been good, but I have discussed pre eclampsia with the doc. He said that high blood pressure is the first sign of it. Do you know if there are proteins showing in your urine? Ask him/her about this at your next appointment.

If you go back and it is still elevated and he is concerned he may induce. It is for your safety and that of your baby. With 38 weeks being full term you and your baby will be fine. I was induced at 36 weeks with #2 for preeclampsia and at 38 weeks with #3 for preeclampsia. Just be glad you have made it this far. Good luck

He may out you on bed rest if your blood pressure is still high. He's going to need you to relax and get it down, and if you can't do that on your own, he will recommend bed rest.
