i had one befor and it died in one night.

i have 12 goldfish in a 50 gal tank...i have no pleco and dont seem to have a problem .... if you dont have a air filter in the tank the pleco will die due to no air .... goldfish will go to the top to get air i say.. get some catfish.. they will eat the left over food on the bottom.. that the fishes dont get...

You can have one if you would like but it isn't necessary. I hope you have a very large tank for your 6 goldfish, even the smaller fancy goldfish need 20 gallons each once they reach adulthood, so if you tank is too small for them then you shouldn't add any more fish. If your tank is large enough here is a site that list some compatible algae eaters since some like the common pleco has the tendency to eat the slime coat off the fish and kill them. http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/comfish.html

CAE get aggressive as they get older, and goldfish eat snails. The fish will love you for getting them crunchy little treats in a shell though. A pleco would be good. But if you have a good filter and do regular water changes and monitor the amount of light algae should not be a problem.

I would suggest a few snails if you are having algae problems. Another fish would probably over crowd your tank usless youhave a really big tank.

isn't it that algaes are bad for fishes? I am not too sure but I was told that algaes take up oxygen which kill fish so they are bad.

definitely, suckerfish and snails are great for algae eating they contain much of the algae and keep your tank healthy
