They lie about how they will help old people. They lie about statisticts about various offenders. They lie about financial matters. Are there ANY good people in public office?

Who would judge them but other political liars? Literally all of them are lying, and the saddest part is people keep voting for them over and over. I think both liberals and conservatives are guilty of this, and it keeps happening until we stand up to it and demand change. I think a third party is a good idea, something to shake up the blame game in Washington.

Becuase nobody holds them accountable.

There's over a 90% incumbency rate in Congress. If people keep getting re-elected, no matter how bad a job they do, what possible incentive do they have to do a better job?

As far as lying to the public -- that's just part of advertising. The public gets lied to constantly -- or more accurately, gets fed misleading and confusing information (even if factually literally true) that causes them to form an incorrect conclusion.

That's how marketing and politics and spin control work. But so far, the populace has been so willing to accept that, that again there is no incentive for anyone to actually tell the truth.

I have found that all politicians lie and have continued to say that if everyone united no matter their political affiliation and just voted EVERYONE currently in office out then maybe they would take the voters serious about "NO MORE B.S.". But, that is not likely to happen in my life time.

A good example is our current president. Before he announced he was running for president he made sure his political affiliation was left in as governor of Texas.

He also made the statement that should he run for president he would resign his governorship position to avoid costing the taxpayers of Texas having to fork over the bill for more security officers to guard him.

He lied and it was only once that his statement was made and people seem to forget it due to their political affiliations.

They also say a lot about the raises they receive, BUT, as yet it has failed to be voted on to freeze or reduce what they make and the rich keep getting richer and well, you know the rest.

They lie, cheat, scandal and many other things that the normal person would get thrown in jail for. They get away with it because they are in a class themselves in a way that they are only held accountable MAYBE if the other party presses the issue. They apparently are not held accountable to us.
What kills me too is WHO picks the choices for President?
I mean we have really crummy choices. It would be nice if
we could get together as a nation and get someone out of
the blue to run for the Democrat or Republican Presidency that everybody would back rather than only have the rotten choices we have.

The standard answer is that it has always been thus, and what can be done? A poor and pathetic answer. If Americans truly feel that they live in a democratic society, then they should begin holding their elected officials to task for all 'promises' and commitments made during the campaign process. Until that happens, a form of dictatorship will continue. Understand that it is the PEOPLE who allow this to continue...no one to blame but yourselves...

Yes, there are some good people, ut they are very hard to find. Out of all politicians, I say Joe Liberman is one of the most respectable. He ran on a certain platfor, his own party (Democratic) turned against him, and he ran anyway because he knew what he wanted. i am not saying I agree with what he wants, but at least he stands for what he believes in.

Yes, there are. But sometimes your plans don't go the way you want. If an official has lied...then no vote next time around but also write them a note to let them know you were paying attention
