black holes arent holes. they are called that because their gravitational effect on space is quite significant.

the objects are smooshed by gravity onto the face of a spherical or elliptical packet of dense matter. The object is there, its just smooshed and flattened beyond recognition. in fact the matter there is so dense that it cannot be broken apart once the black hole reaches critical mass. in fact there is a Supergiant black hole at the center of our galaxy.

The center of a black hole is called a singularity. It is a place that nobody can imagine; the laws of physics do not apply there. As the black hole ingests more matter, it's mass increases. This increase in mass causes the gravity to increase which make the singularity even smaller and more dense, increasing the appetite of the black hole. It's like a runaway train.
