Several people on here throw-around the term 'Puppet Gov't' in an attempt to explain any situation that they cannot otherwise understand . Constantly, there's folks who blame every worldwide problem on the U.S.A. and it's supposed 'puppet governments' .
How do they come to such 'conclusions' when many times they're actually referring to Democratically Elected governments. . . . People elected by the PEOPLE ???

Ha Ha! dstr brought this crap up...

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator."

That's just further evidence that many Libs have NO humor. Just to clear it up W was *gasp* joking!!! He was poking fun at them and they didn't even get it.

Also, I'm sick of the whole popular vote argument. It makes you wonder if these people have a basic comprehension of how our government works. We have an electoral college to fairly distribute influence between all the states as some states are not as populated as others. The following Presidents lost the popular and became President:

John Quincy Adams
Rutherford B. Hayes
Benjamin Harrison
George W. Bush

Under this premise should we all be saying, "Rutherford was a God damn dictator who stole the election from Samuel Tilden and DEFIED the American people!!!! Give me a break.

I think the bigger issue is that they are so convinced in their "absolute correctness" that they find it impossible to believe that the majority of people don't think the way they do. The Dem disconnect with the majority is the reason why they couldn't win in an election for many years.

Good question, Ernest! You get a star! I believe the lyrics of the illustrious Ozzy Osbourne fit this question perfectly;

You're in denial...you never will believe it's you...
...Denial...you always hide behind the truth
You'll never believe it...you never believe it's you...

It's about perception. If someone believes you're a puppet government, then you're a puppet government.
It doesn't matter what Iraq accomplishes now, they will always be perceived by the Arab nations as being the puppet of America. So even if everything worked out there (doubtful), they would still have problems. Guess who they would attack if they can't attack us.

Being a puppet kind of sucks.

Who contributes to getting an official elected? What "hidden agenda" do the politicians have with the companies that "sponsor" them? It doesn't matter how much they spend on brainwashing the people to vote for them, once they're in they are repaying their debts ten-fold!
That is why they are "puppet" governments and the strings are being pulled by the richest contributers they have! They don't give a **** about the mob- keep them entertained- is their motto, too. That way they can do whatever they need to do to give the money back and set themselves up for life!
And just wait till the new computer-voting system gets in! They'll be able to sabbotage the election for less bribing than ever! Wonder how much it cost them to win in Florida?
And you know why the US is linked to the worldwide issues? Because right now they want to spread their diseased mentally wherever they go, just like a computer virus! US can't afford to have a 'live and let live" mentality, McDonalds would go bust!

Because if you don't approve of what the elected officials are doing, and can't accept that your side has lost the election, then you have to come up with some rationalization or excuse for why you shouldn't have to respect the fact that they did get elected.

It's amazing to watch. When someone's candidate gets elected, and the other side is unhappy, they tell the other side to get over it, to deal with being the majority, that they have a mandate from the people. But when their side loses, and the other side gets elected, suddenly just being in office is not good enough, and the elected officials are betraying the people. It's double standard common to both sides of the political spectrum.

Because those in opposition to the war don't want to admit they are morally wrong. The government of Iraq was elected by a higher percentage of voters than the newly elected Democratic Congress, and to be fair by a higher percentage than George W. Bush, or any American President.

When the People are only allowed to vote for one of several puppets, the final product has to be a puppet government. We haven't had a 'real' candidate in decades.

Maybe they listened to too much Metallica? I think so.

Master of Puppets

End of passion play, crumbling away
I'm your source of self-destruction
Veins that pump with fear, sudden dark is clear
Leading on your deaths construction
Taste me you will see
more is all you need
you're dedicated to
how I'm killing you

Come crawling faster
obey your Master
your life burns faster
obey your Master
Master
Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master

Needlework the way, never you betray
life of death becoming clearer
Pain monopoly, ritual misery
chop your breakfast on a mirror
Taste me you will see
more is all you need
you're dedicated to
how I'm killing you

Come crawling faster
obey your Master
your life burns faster
obey your Master
Master
Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master

Master, Master, Where's the dreams that I've been after?
Master, Master, You promised only lies
Laughter, Laughter, All I hear and see is laughter
Laughter, Laughter, laughing at my cries
Hell is worth all that, natural habitat
just a rhyme without a reason
Neverending maze, drift on numbered days
now your life is out of season
I will occupy
I will help you die
I will run through you
Now I rule you too

Come crawling faster
obey your Master
your life burns faster
obey your Master
Master
Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master

What, no cheesy song lyrics today?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election%2C_2000_Florida_results

The recount process was hurried, and of course we're expected to believe that Katherine Harris and Bush's own brother and then-governor Jeb Bush made an objective attempt to find out who really won in Florida.

By the way: Nationally, Gore won the popular vote in 2000. Not even Dubya himself disputes that. So perhaps you could expand on your definition of "People elected by the PEOPLE"...

No. I can't explain why Liberals call Bush a puppet, either.

Well who decides the candidates eh?

Its not hard to figure out, the people are "elected" and the quotes mean the election is fixed to begin with, or they are only allowed to run because they are in the pockets of the US to begin with.
